El Cortesin Golf - Casares
Holes 18, Par: 72 - Length/m: White:6351 Yellow:5884 Red:4852
Opened in October 2006, El Cortesin golf club is is located in Casares, between Marbella and Sotogrande. It's privileged location offers views over the Mediterranean and the African coastline from every angle. The golf course has been designed by Cabell Robinson. Unlike most of the existing courses in the Costa del Sol area, houses do not interfere with the game.
This also means that there is a lot of room for the holes which are not cramped by buildings, so the player can enjoy his golf in a natural environment. The length of the course reaches nearly 7000m from the back tees, becoming one of the longest courses in Europe, with a total par of 72. There are five par 3’s, eight par 4’s & five par 5’s.
The main features are the length of the course and the great variety of its natural vegetation which includes olive trees and corks. The 18 holes are very unique since every hole is completely different to the others which makes playing very enjoyable. The fairways are very wide, the bunkers are beautifully shaped and filled with white marble sand, the greens all have slight brakes and have the quality to be extremely fast. El Cortesin Golf course is considered one of Europe's longest golf courses.
Finca Cortesín Golf Resort is the venue for the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009 and is the new host for the World Match Play.
